History
Bonver Videodata AB was officially launched in 1983. But already in 1979, Gerard Versteegh, who founded the company together with his wife Cecilia, was renting out video film cassettes at his Shell gas station on Strandvägen in Stockholm.
In its early days, operations were small scale - few households had video cassette players. The rental film market quickly skyrocketed and so did demand for the company's services. Under the name of Videogruppen (the Video Group), the business grew, and the company distributed video films to many Shell stations throughout Sweden.
During the 1980s and early 1990s, the company expanded and gained considerably more customers within its two business areas: Bonver Market and Bonver Logistics.
In 1996, Bonver moved to its current facilities in Gåshaga, on the island of Lidingö. The new, spacious facilities in Unilever's old margarine factory have enabled expansion within the two business areas. In 1997, the company launched operations in Norway (Bonver AS). Today Bonver also owns MSO Logistikk AS, the Norwegian distribution company. This was one of the first steps towards a comprehensive nordic distribution.
The large local premises have been upgraded in phases since 1998 in accordance with studio requirements.
In 2000 Bonver started the working with digital distribution of home entertainment products. During 2001 Bonver deployed its first video-on-demand service .
Over the last few years, significant investments have been made in the premises, plant and equipment including our automated logistics system. In addition to these improvements we have continued to upgrade our IT systems. These investments have increased productivity within the Nordic logistics market, making Bonver one of the leading players in the region.
